 Station History:

Construction started in 2018 on Firehouse 8. This was the first firehouse built with TIRZ funding and with a Construction Manager At Risk contract for the City of Pearland. Deemed as the “super station” as deemed by dignitaries and City Staff, the 17,608 sq. ft. fire station was designed to house two - 4-person engine crew, one - 4 person ladder crew and one - 2 person ambulance crew.

Like many of the City's new stations, the station's amenities focus on hazards firefighters see after responding to a fire by having “clean” side and “dirty” side, to aid in reducing risk of exposure to carcinogens.

Station 8 opened in June 2020 with a virtual grand opening due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Station features:

  • Firefighter decontamination area
    • 4 saunas
      • where firefighters can clean off biohazards
      • saunas include a specific process designed to decontaminate firefighters' skin.
  • 16 dorms
  • Gym
    • The largest PFD gym built to date
  • 8 restrooms and showers
  • Large watch office
    • Watch offices are a long standing tradition in a firehouse where a firefighter is assigned to “keep watch of the firehouse” to greet any citizens, announce when other members or dignitaries are in the house and make sure that the crew catches all the information on the run they are dispatched on.
  • Accordion folding bay doors
    • lower the maintenance needed on regular garage style bay doors.
  • gear washer and dryer along with closed off bunker gear storage area to keep the gear out of the sun and exhaust from the apparatuses that ultimately breaks it down.
