Police Department Celebrates Telecommunicators Week
The Pearland Police Department is celebrating April 9 - 15 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International and celebrated annually, honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.
"We are proud of our telecommunications operators. Police officers and firemen are often recognized as first-responders, but it is the dispatchers that take those first calls for assistance and send help their way that are the real heroes," said Incoming Chief Johnny Spires. "They work tirelessly behind the scenes and deserve to be recognized for what they do."
