Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work with our storm debris contractor to remove storm debris. Crews will continue to remove debris for the next 30 days. Please keep in mind it may take several weeks before all debris is removed. Debris removal crews are diligently working with the City of Pearland, so please bear with us during this process.
Please remember to:
• Avoid parking street side and blocking the debris as any blocked debris will not be picked up.
• Please set aside an area for standard household trash that is separated from debris piles so that standard household trash can be found and removed by the City’s household trash collection provider.
• Separate storm debris accordingly:
o Vegetative debris (whole trees, trunks, limbs affected by the storm)
o Construction and demolition debris
o Appliance and white goods
o Electronics
o Household hazardous waste consists of items such as cleaners, paints and other hazardous materials and should NOT be mixed with other debris.
• For faster debris removal, residents are asked to assist by cutting bags to expose the contents for verification. The storm debris removal contractor must see what is being removed.
• Keep recycling WM carts, Simply Recycling bags, and other recyclables separate from debris.
• Keep roadways and sidewalks clear. Streets must be passable for emergency vehicles, utility vehicles and school buses.
• Please move all storm debris to the right-of-way.
• Keep children and pets away from debris piles/work area.
• Do not burn debris or rubbish.
• For your safety, stay clear of the debris trucks and grapple arm, storm debris collection truck drivers have limited visibility.
Regular Household Garbage and Recycling (not storm debris)
Recycling, green waste and heavy trash (not storm debris) service resumed on Monday, Sept. 11. Storm debris is defined as any material ruined by floodwater or winds from the hurricane. Waste Management will not pick up bulk items if they are or were wet or affected in any way from the storm. They will pick up regular bulk waste items (i.e. mattresses, sofas, etc.) if they are not storm damaged. If items are deemed storm-damaged or debris-related, those items will be left at the curb for pick up by the City's storm debris collection contractor. Green waste will not be picked up unless it is normal green waste such as leaves, grass clippings, and branches that are cut, tied and bundled as normal.
