City of Pearland Fire Marshal’s Office Awarded 2017 Achievement of Excellence
The Pearland Fire Marshal’s Office received the 2017 Achievement of Excellence Gold Level Award in Fire Prevention. This is the fourth time the Fire Marshal’s Office has been recognized by the Texas Fire Marshals Association (TXFMA). The Fire Marshal’s Office earned a Bronze Level award in 2012, and Gold Level awards in 2013 and 2014.
Established in 2008, the award recognizes organizations for excellence in fire prevention. Applicants are scored in a number of categories and criteria, including fire and life safety programs, web-based communications and involvement in professional organizations.
TXFMA President Laurie Christensen said, “I am very excited and proud to present this Gold Level Award to the City of Pearland Fire Marshal’s Office whose hard work in fire prevention activities has earned such a prestigious award through their dedication and professionalism, which is the cornerstone of this award, association, and its members.”
In Pearland, the Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for the protection of life and property through fire code enforcement, plans review, fire inspections, and fire cause determination. The Fire Marshal’s Office conducts and coordinates fire and life safety inspections, conducts fire cause determination, conducts criminal investigations, arrests or prosecutes violators, and reviews all plans to ensure that businesses are safe before being opened to the public.
