Mayor Tom Reid delivers annual State of the City Address

In front of an audience of more than 400 residents, local leaders and dignitaries, Mayor Tom Reid delivered his annual State of the City address today at the First Church in Pearland. The Mayor spoke about the City’s financial health, public safety and Pearland’s growth.
“Our rapid growth has created opportunities that we must take advantage of and we will work with to meet the challenges of growth to make Pearland an emerging cosmopolitan city,” said Mayor Reid.
The Mayor also highlighted some of the City’s capital improvement projects that are complete or in progress, such as the City Hall Complex renovation, the Delores Fenwick Nature Center and the Tom Reid Library Expansion.
Developments such as the Tool-Flo and Adient Medical among others were recognized in his speech.
Mayor Reid closed the presentation by issuing a to-do list for the city, which includes:
Continue good stewardship of tax dollars by upgrading City services and infrastructure
Maintain quality of life ensuring a safe and livable city with a small town atmosphere
Continue building an environment that will attract corporate headquarters, high-value retail, industrial, medical and quality resident development
Continue providing educational, recreational, cultural and leisure opportunities to include, museums, performing arts facilities and people places with upscale dining and shopping opportunities expected of a destination city.
The address will be rebroadcast on Pearland TV (Comcast Ch. 16 and U-verse Ch. 99) daily at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Feb. 23 until March 31.
