Jason Shafer Promoted to Battalion Chief-Fire Marshal
The City of Pearland Fire Department pleased to announce the promotion and appointment of Inspector/Investigator Jason Shafer to the position of Battalion Chief-Fire Marshal. Jason has been serving as Interim Fire Marshal for Pearland since July 2018. He has been an Inspector/Investigator with the Pearland Fire Department since October 2015.
Mr. Shafer began his fire service career with the Victoria Fire Department in 2000, then served with La Marque Fire Department in 2002. There he served as a Captain in the La Marque Fire Department for 7 years and as La Marque Fire Marshal from May 2014 to October 2015, and finally accepting a Fire Inspector/Investigator position in Pearland in October 2015. Mr. Shafer has been in the fire service for over 18 years and has Master TCFP certifications as Fire Inspector, Arson Investigator, Structure Firefighter, and TCOLE Master Peace Officer to name just a few. He was selected by his peers as PFD Community Risk Reduction Division Member of the Year in 2017.
Mr. Shafer will lead the office of the Fire Marshal, which handles fire inspections, plan reviews, fire and arson investigations, environmental crimes, professional standards investigations, and the accelerant detection canine program.
