City of Pearland Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
Government Finance Officers Association Awards Pearland Highest Recognition
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) again recognized the City of Pearland with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Fiscal Year 2017 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), reporting period ended September 30, 2017. The certificate represents the highest honor for governmental accounting that only 16% of Cities in Texas received. GFOA has 19,400 members across Federal, state, and local government.
“City of Pearland employees, including our finance department led by Cynthia Pearson, are committed to a financially responsible and transparent government. This award is a testament to their dedication.” said Clay Pearson, Pearland City Manager.
The criteria for the certificate include 19 main sections with a checklist that spans a total of 75 pages, and must be completed in its entirety to even be considered for this prestigious honor. The FY 2017 report represents the 42nd consecutive year Pearland has met these criteria and received this award.
