City wins 3rd place in Houston-area Water Conservation Challenge

Post Date:11/15/2018 3:35 pm

The City of Pearland recently won 3rd place in the Houston Cities H20 Challenge. The competition ran from June 2018 to September 2018 with the winning cities, residents and businesses honored at an event in October 2018 at Moody Gardens. Pearland was one of 30+ cities in the Houston-area to compete in the competition.

As part of a regional effort to conserve water supplies, the Galveston Bay Foundation, in partnership with the Texas Living Waters Project and The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency, launched the challenge earlier this year as a friendly water conservation competition designed to engage Houston-area residents and businesses in water conservation, including residents and businesses from the City of Pearland.

Because Houston and its adjacent cities are growing at an unprecedented rate and are expected to double their population in the next 40 years, freshwater from aquifers and rivers will be in high demand. Water conservation is the most cost-effective way to ensure that there are sufficient water supplies for Houston-area residents and the environment.
