New Concrete Truck Cements Productivity in Utility Cut Projects

The City has acquired a new 10-yard capacity concrete truck to increase productivity in concrete restoration for utility cuts. The truck, outfitted with the City logo and for use by Public Works’ Distributions and Collections division, offers a greater load volume than previous equipment and increased efficiency on driveway, sidewalk, and road repairs. 

The new truck already boasts a strong record for concrete output since its launch, with the City having realized personnel cost savings and upsurge in job completion rates.

Prior to the purchase, Public Works used a concrete trailer featuring a one-yard load capacity. As such, crews constantly needed to be pulled from the worksite for refilling and remixing purposes.

With the new truck’s greater volume, the trips needed to refill and refuel are cut down, allowing crews to see concrete restoration with fewer downtime.

In addition to its current duty to repair concrete affected by utility cuts, the truck and its concrete crew will look to review, identify, and repair gaps, curbs, and other concrete hazards within 200 ft. of a utility cut. This will maximize funds, address anticipated work orders, and aid in overall improvement of the City’s infrastructure.
