This July, it’s Game On at Pearland Parks & Recreation
Month-long celebration highlights the fun and games of local parks and recreation
Summer is here, which means it’s time to get out and explore the great things happening at Pearland Parks & Recreation as we celebrate Park and Recreation Month. A variety of fun activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities — including Story Time, Turtle Tuesdays, and Food Truck & Fun Night.
Pearland Parks & Recreation is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), by inviting you to get in the game. With everything from outdoor learning activities to games and exercise, there are plenty of ways that you can celebrate with us!
“Pearland Parks & Recreation is positioned to elevate and enhance issues of health, wellness, equity and conservation,” said Dr. Christopher Orlea, Director of Pearland Parks & Recreation. “Leading health agencies have many initiatives that indicate citizens are healthier when participating in outdoor programs—that could be anything from a hike along a nature trail to reading a book in any one of our great parks.”
Pearland Parks & Recreation will celebrate Park and Recreation Month by providing outdoor games and activities, including the grand re-opening of Independence Park at the Fourth of July Celebration of Freedom; opportunities to learn about nature and the environment, and encouraging kids and adults of all ages to get out and play, with sports like archery tag, soccer, and adaptive basketball.
NRPA encourages people that support parks and recreation to share why they think it’s important with the hashtag #GameOnJuly.
