Fireworks Prohibited in Pearland City Limits & ETJ
The City of Pearland Fire Marshal’s Office reminds residents that fireworks are illegal to use or possess within the City limits and it's extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The Fire Marshal’s Office and the Pearland Police Department will confiscate fireworks and issue citations to anyone caught possessing or discharging fireworks. This offense is a Class-C misdemeanor carrying a fine up to $2,000 per firework.
Fireworks burn at high temperatures producing sparks and embers that fall on people and property. Thousands of fires a year are caused by consumer fireworks.
Sparklers with “1.4 G Consumer Fireworks” on the label are illegal within the city and ETJ.
Should Pearland residents find themselves in an area that allows for sparklers, please note the following: Sparklers can burn at temperatures greater than 1200 degrees F and cause thousands of injuries each year. Those using sparklers should wear close-toed shoes and not use them while barefoot. Clothing should be well fitting and hair pulled back to avoid ignition of sleeves and hair. Ensure sparklers are completely burnt and soaked in water before discarding into the trash. After sparklers are used, matches and lighters should be stored in an elevated cabinet to limit their access from children.
To report the use of fireworks within the City, contact the Pearland Police Department non-emergency number: 281-997-4100.
