Mayor Tom Reid Issues Orders Related to COVID-19 Under Disaster Declaration
In conjunction with the disaster declaration issued on Wednesday, and in support of the State of Texas Governor Abbot’s Executive Order (GA-08) issued on Thursday, March 19th, Mayor Tom Reid has signed two orders for the City of Pearland that go into effect Saturday, March 21st and will remain in effect until Friday, April 3rd, unless extended due to evolution of the situation.
The first order (TR 1) reinforces the State Order to close within the City of Pearland inside-service (other than pick-up to go, which is encouraged to support local businesses) of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, lounges, taverns, gyms, massage establishments or arcades and private clubs to discourage social gathering.
The second order (TR 2) gives City Administration the authority to the city manager to temporarily waive certain development and non-development fees while the disaster declaration is active. Non-development fees include animal adoption fees, City Secretary fees, business signage and inspection fees to name a few. This order is intended to mitigate the impact of the current situation on Pearland residents and businesses.
