City of Pearland Extends Health and Safety Order

Post Date:07/09/2020 2:54 pm

The City of Pearland is extending its current health and safety order that requires businesses to post a policy requiring face coverings to continue until 11:59 p.m. on July 31. The extension occurs as other regional health authorities extend orders due to increasing case counts, rates of infection, and hospitalizations.

The health and safety order maintains that all commercial businesses in the City of Pearland that offer goods or services to the public must implement a policy requiring all employees and visitors over the age of 10 to wear a face covering. The order is consistent and reinforces Governor Greg Abbott’s statewide order.

Face coverings include professional-grade and homemade masks, scarves, bandanas and handkerchiefs.

Businesses must post their policy in a conspicuous location to provide notice to employees and visitors of these health and safety requirements.

In addition to the mandatory mask order, the City is also encouraging businesses and residents to continue social distancing and hand sanitizing. Together, such measures help decrease the spread of the COVID-19 virus and enable the Pearland community to remain safer by reducing risk with relatively small, commonsense steps.
