City of Pearland Mayor Tom Reid has signed a disaster declaration order in anticipation of Hurricane Laura. The order will be effective for seven days, starting August 25 and ending on August 31.

The declaration comes as Hurricane Laura draws closer to the Galveston coast and as the City prepares to activate the Emergency Operations Center.

By signing the disaster declaration order, city staff will be able to focus on continuity of essential services during the disaster period. The order also reinforces the declaration also made by Governor Greg Abbott and aides in financial reimbursement eligibility after the storm.
