The City of Pearland has been recognized for its outstanding transparency efforts by receiving the Open Government and Compliance Transparency Star from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. This prestigious award highlights Pearland’s commitment to making key financial data easily accessible to the public and demonstrates the City's dedication to open governance.
The Transparency Stars program, launched by the Texas Comptroller in March 2016, acknowledges local government entities that excel in providing online access to important financial information. Entities can earn stars in various areas, including Traditional Finances, Contracts and Procurement, Economic Development, Public Pensions, Debt Obligations, and Open Government and Compliance.
"Receiving this recognition is a testament to our City’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability to our residents," said City Manager Trent Epperson. "We are proud to continue leading in making government information accessible, promoting trust and engagement with our community."
The Texas Comptroller’s office awards Transparency Stars based on a stringent set of criteria that encourages local governments to provide taxpayers with clear, comprehensive financial data. Pearland’s Open Government and Compliance recognition is a significant achievement, building on its prior success in earning a Transparency Star for Traditional Finances.
“The City of Pearland has shown a continued commitment to providing taxpayers with a clear and meaningful analysis of its financial data," said Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar. "This effort achieves the goals set by my office’s Transparency Stars program, and I am pleased to recognize the City of Pearland for going above and beyond in its transparency efforts."
