Statewide Test of the Emergency Alerts System - 4/2/26 (10am-12:30pm)

Post Date:04/02/2026 8:47 am

On Thursday, April 2, between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM, emergency alert systems across Texas will be tested as part of a coordinated effort requested by the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

What to expect:

  • You may receive a phone call, text message, and/or email notification
  • You may hear outdoor warning sirens depending on your location
  • You may receive more than one alert, especially if you live near or are signed up to receive alerts from neighboring jurisdictions

What the City of Pearland is doing:

  • Conducting a test of our emergency notification system
  • Verifying internal alerting processes and system functionality

Important:

  • This is only a test. No action is required
  • Do not call 911 unless you have a real emergency

A quick reminder: Emergency alert systems play a critical role in keeping our community safe. You may notice increased testing from agencies across the region; this is done to ensure systems are working when they are needed most. We encourage residents to remain patient with these tests and not opt out of notifications, as doing so may limit your ability to receive important, life-saving information during an actual emergency.

Questions? If you have questions about this test, please contact the City of Pearland Director of Communications - joloee@pearlandtx.gov
