Recycle your Christmas tree

The City of Pearland would like to remind residents to ring in the new year by recycling their Christmas trees. The environmentally-responsible method is to keep the tree out of a landfill.
To recycle your tree properly, remove your tree from the stand, remove all tinsel (if you added any), lights and ornaments and recycle your tree by bringing it to the Stella Roberts Recycling Center located at 5800 Magnolia Dr. in Pearland during regular business hours. The Dunes Project will also be accepting trees at the Brazoria County Precinct 2 Work Yard located at 7315 Corporate Dr. in Manvel. And don't forget, you can put your tree out at the curb on your green waste day.
For more information about recycling, visit mykpb.org or call 281.489.2795.

Fite Road Extension near completion

The $4.2 million Fite Road Extension Project, which will extend the road approximately 2,500 feet, is expected to be complete in early 2018. The project includes the construction of a four-lane roadway, a 10-foot high soundwall, landscaped right of ways, underground drainage and a traffic signal at the intersection of McLean Road.
This extension will reduce the amount of traffic currently being diverted to Walnut Street. The completion of this extension will allow traffic to continue on Fite Road beyond its current endpoint, connect McLean Road and Veterans Drive and provide access to the new portion of Centennial Park and the ball fields there.
