Mission Statement

The Engineering and Public Works Department is committed to implementing best practices in the development, management, and maintenance of the public infrastructure to provide the best quality of life for residents, visitors, and businesses in the City of Pearland. We aim to be proactive, effective, and efficient in our customer service, both internally and externally.

Engineering

Engineering Division

The Engineering division is responsible for ensuring the planning and construction activities within the City and its ETJ are in accordance with the City's Standards, Codes and Practices.

Traffic Operations

The Traffic division manages and enhances mobility throughout the city through continual evaluation and maintenance of the transportation infrastructure.

Stormwater Management

The Stormwater Management division is responsible for implementing and enforcing the City's Stormwater Management Plan to reduce pollution into the City's stormwater system.

Floodplain Management

The Floodplain Management division is responsible for regulating development within the City's Special Flood Hazard Areas in order to protect life and property from flood risks.

Public Works

Public Works Division

The Public Works division is responsible for providing reliable quality service to the residents of Pearland through continually improving the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and management of the City's infrastructure.

Street Services

Streets Division creates and maintains a safe and effective transportation infrastructure.

Drainage Division

Drainage Division creates and maintains a safe and effective storm water drainage infrastructure.

Right of Way Management

The Right of Way Division coordinates the acquisition of land to build, widen or enhance highways, and provides relocation assistance when needed. The division also coordinates utility adjustments and the disposition and leasing of surplus real property owned by TxDOT. It also regulates outdoor advertising signs and junkyards.

Capital Projects

The Projects Division aims to effectively deliver quality transportation, facility, drainage and utility projects as identified in the Capital Improvement Program, on-time and within budget.

What is the CIP?
The Capital Improvements Program (CIP) is the long-range plan for all individual capital improvement projects and funding sources. CIP Projects are unique construction projects that provide improvements or additions such as land, buildings, and infrastructure.
