The budget provides the financial framework for all city activities during a twelve month period, called a fiscal year, which begins October 1st for the City of Pearland. The City Charter requires the City Manager to prepare a budget for each fiscal year. The budget sets forth the funding for services, programs, and activities of the various city departments, and must meet all fund requirements provided by law and required by bond covenants. The Annual Budget must also include a multi-year capital improvement program.
The Fiscal Year 2021 Budget process is set to kickoff at the February 22nd Early Budget Input Session, held at 8:30 a.m. in City Council Chambers. You can keep up with everything going on with the process at the FY21 Budget Development webpage.
