 Current Updates

Wednesday, July 24, 6 pm

  • As part of the debris removal contract, our debris removal contractor Ceres is trimming hazardous leaner/hanger limbs that are in the public right of way for public safety.
  • Criteria for cuts:
  • Leaner/hangers are 2" or greater in diameter
  • -Must be creating a hazard over the street or over the sidewalk
-Cuts will be made within the right-of-way.
  •  If you have questions related to this, please contact 281.652.1900

Thursday, July 17, 6 p.m.

  • Due to rainfall from the past 48 hours, our storm debris removal contractor Ceres is having difficulty accessing the landfill designating for C&D debris.
  • As a result, all Ceres trucks will be exclusively picking up vegetative debris until access has been restored. Note, vegetative debris is being disposed of at a separate location from C&D debris for chipping and mulching.
  • Crews are working in each of the zones Pearland has been split into. Green dots, noted on the map, indicate where properties have received large vegetative debris pickup.
  • Please note, crews will be prioritizing large debris removal to ensure roadway and right-of-way clearance. Bagged debris will be picked up later in the debris removal process.

Wednesday, July 16, 5 p.m.

  • Centerpoint and Habitat for Humanity are partnering to assist residents who need their weatherhead repaired/replaced to receive power.
  • Delays in power restoration can be the result of a damaged weatherhead. These weatherheads must be repaired/replaced before Centerpoint can restore power to a home or business.
  • If you have a damaged weatherhead and would like to receive these services, Centerpoint is requesting you provide your Name, Address, and Phone Number, to Kevin Vargas, with the Houston Habitat for Humanity, at kvargas@houstonhabitat.org.
  • Habitat for Humanity will forward your information to Centerpoint, who will then reach out to a licensed contractor to pull permits and perform the work. Note, permit fees for storm-related repairs are waived. Work will then be inspected by City staff, and if approved, the City will prioritize getting reconnects sent to Centerpoint same-day.

Tuesday, July 16, 5 p.m.

  • Still awaiting schedule confirmation from debris contractor.
  • Trash update from Frontier Waste Solutions.
    • Due to the damage left by Hurricane Beryl, the entire Houston solid waste market is experiencing higher volumes of trash out for collection. From refrigerator and freezer spoilage, to leaves and branches, the volume is immense for the time being.
    • This increased volume is causing longer wait times at each and every landfill / disposal site and delays turn around time dramatically.
    • We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to get everyone recovered as quickly as possible. Our team is doing everything we can to manage the situation and ensure that all services are completed safely and efficiently. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. Thank you for your patience and support.

Sunday, July 14, 6.pm.

  • Harris County has released a map detailing Points of Distribution sites for residents seeking food, water, ice, and/or a cooling center.

Saturday, July 13, 5 p.m.

  • Residents may now apply for FEMA Disaster Assistance to receiving funding for disaster-related expenses.
  • Debris Removal Services will only be provided to residential addresses; not to commercial businesses.
    • Schedule for pickup at residential addresses is to be determined, but expected to begin the week of July 15.
    • Commercial businesses are typically required to use Frontier Waste for debris removal services, per our trash services contract.
    • Due to current circumstances, Frontier Waste will allow commercial businesses to use other C&D debris and tree removal service providers until July 27, 2024 for storm related debris removal. Following July 27, 2024, commercial businesses must remove non-Frontier provided roll offs, and contact Frontier for remaining debris removal needs.
    • *Frontier Waste must still be used for existing trash services and new construction C&D debris removal.
