Thursday, July 17, 6 p.m.
- Due to rainfall from the past 48 hours, our storm debris removal contractor Ceres is having difficulty accessing the landfill designating for C&D debris.
- As a result, all Ceres trucks will be exclusively picking up vegetative debris until access has been restored. Note, vegetative debris is being disposed of at a separate location from C&D debris for chipping and mulching.
- Crews are working in each of the zones Pearland has been split into. Green dots, noted on the map, indicate where properties have received large vegetative debris pickup.
- Please note, crews will be prioritizing large debris removal to ensure roadway and right-of-way clearance. Bagged debris will be picked up later in the debris removal process.
Wednesday, July 16, 5 p.m.
- Centerpoint and Habitat for Humanity are partnering to assist residents who need their weatherhead repaired/replaced to receive power.
-
Delays in power restoration can be the result of a damaged weatherhead. These weatherheads must be repaired/replaced before Centerpoint can restore power to a home or business.
-
If you have a damaged weatherhead and would like to receive these services, Centerpoint is requesting you provide your Name, Address, and Phone Number, to Kevin Vargas, with the Houston Habitat for Humanity, at kvargas@houstonhabitat.org.
- Habitat for Humanity will forward your information to Centerpoint, who will then reach out to a licensed contractor to pull permits and perform the work. Note, permit fees for storm-related repairs are waived. Work will then be inspected by City staff, and if approved, the City will prioritize getting reconnects sent to Centerpoint same-day.
Tuesday, July 16, 5 p.m.
- Still awaiting schedule confirmation from debris contractor.
- Trash update from Frontier Waste Solutions.
-
Due to the damage left by Hurricane Beryl, the entire Houston solid waste market is experiencing higher volumes of trash out for collection. From refrigerator and freezer spoilage, to leaves and branches, the volume is immense for the time being.
-
This increased volume is causing longer wait times at each and every landfill / disposal site and delays turn around time dramatically.
-
We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to get everyone recovered as quickly as possible. Our team is doing everything we can to manage the situation and ensure that all services are completed safely and efficiently. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. Thank you for your patience and support.
