Crime Victim Assistance Program Mission

The goal of the Crime Victim Assistance Program is to

  • reduce the trauma and insensitive treatment victims / witnesses experience in the aftermath of a crime
  • avoid inflicting ‘second victimization’ that has often characterized much of the predicament of the victims of crime
  • implement the participation of the victim / witness in the justice system by giving full recognition
  • and provide protection to the rights of these individuals.

Services Provided

  • Assistance in obtaining Protective Orders
  • Accompaniment through the Criminal Justice System as requested
  • Serve as a liaison between victims and social service agencies
  • Serve as a liaison between victims and law enforcement 
  • Notification and assistance in filing Crime Victims’ Compensation Claims
  • Accompaniment to hospitals or other service agencies
  • Emergency transportation (shelters)
  • Provide emotional support and crisis Intervention (Referrals to support agencies as necessary)
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish
