The Pearland Police Department is launching THRIVE, a proactive and collaborative initiative for faith-based organizations in Pearland. The Faith-Based initiative will include quarterly meetings between faith based organization and the Police Department, beginning in January 2017. By partnering with faith-based organizations, the Pearland Police Department expects to develop a winning collaboration with to create a mechanism for community problem-solving in Pearland community while strengthening trust and communication with all community members.
For many years, cities have worked closely in partnership with faith and community serving organizations. These collaborations have played a critical role in improving the lives of residents in many cities by providing a plethora of vital services -including job training and employment services, health support services and crime prevention and intervention services, mentoring for children of prisoners, domestic violence prevention and intervention and housing services. This initiative aims to provide support to those efforts.
The primary goals of the initiative include:
- Strengthening partnerships and trust between law enforcement, faith-based organizations and the community.
- Furthering the community’s and faith-based organization’s role as a partner in crime reduction efforts.
- Identifying and address social issues that diminish the quality of life in communities.
- Linking residents in need to services and resources that currently exist within the City of Pearland and the Pearland Police Department.
